The Miami Heat continue to send interesting signals ahead of the NBA Draft, and their latest workout may be telling us a lot more than people realize.
According to reports from Greg Sylvander, the Heat have worked out Raeshawn Agee, a versatile forward who could be available in the second round. While many fans are focusing solely on Agee as a prospect, I believe the bigger story is what Miami’s draft strategy says about their pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
One of the NBA’s premier scouting and development organizations has reportedly focused much of its pre-draft attention on second-round and undrafted prospects rather than first-round talent. To me, that suggests the Heat are operating as a team that fully expects major roster and draft-pick movement this offseason.
Could Miami be preparing for a blockbuster Giannis trade?
In this episode, I break down why the Heat’s interest in Raeshawn Agee could be another clue that the organization expects to move significant draft capital in a deal for Giannis Antetokounmpo. I also explain why Agee would be an excellent fit in Erik Spoelstra’s system.
At 6’7” and 235 pounds, Agee brings toughness, defensive versatility, rebounding, physicality, and the ability to knock down corner three-pointers. His game reminds me of P.J. Tucker, whose impact during Miami’s 2022 Eastern Conference Finals run went far beyond the box score. Every championship contender needs glue guys who do the dirty work, and Agee has the potential to fill that role.
Can Raeshawn Agee become the next hidden gem discovered by the Miami Heat? And does Miami’s draft strategy tell us that a Giannis trade is closer than ever?
Let’s discuss it.
