Ahead of last week’s Farmers Insurance Open, Joseph LaMagna caught up with Rodgers to discuss unplugging from technology, the state of his game, the shifting collegiate athletics landscape, amateur golf development, the future of the PGA Tour, and much more. Patrick Rodgers turned professional in the summer of 2014 after an exceptional amateur career that included appearances on two successful Walker Cup teams (2011, 2013) and 11 collegiate wins in three seasons at Stanford, tying Tiger Woods’ school record. Now entering his 12th season on the PGA Tour at age 33, Rodgers is playing some of the best golf of his career. He has made the cut in each of the first three tournaments of the season, highlighted by a solo third-place finish at the Sony Open, and currently ranks eighth in the FedEx Cup standings.
