In the first set, Tatsunori Otsuka scored Japan's first point, and Yuto Kai followed with a spike and a block to make it 5-2. Keigo Nishimoto further extended the lead with a block. A spiking error by Belgium and a powerful spike by Kai made it 17-10. After that, Belgium's varied serves disrupted Japan's serve reception, and the gap gradually narrowed, but at set point, relief server Ran Takahashi scored a service ace to win the first set 25-20.

In the second set, Nishimoto's quick attacks and Belgium's spikes went out, making the score 8-4, prompting Belgium to call a timeout. While Japan's serve reception was sometimes erratic, their side-outs were stable, and Miyaura Kento consistently scored with spikes. Maintaining the lead until the end of the set, Belgium's serve hit the net, and Japan won the second set as well.

In the third set, Belgium took a 1-4 lead with a service ace and a block, but Japan tied the score at 6-6 with spikes from Kai and others. Kai then scored another service ace, followed by a quick attack from Nishimoto and a block from Yamauchi Akihiro, putting Japan ahead at 12-9. Riding this momentum, Japan made it 18-12 with a service ace from Miyaura. Fukatsu Hideomi focused the ball on Yamauchi, who was in good form in this set, and helped him score. A dig by substitute Takahashi Ran led to a point by Otsuka, giving Japan a break and making it 22-15. Yamauchi then made a block to give Japan match point, and finally, an opponent's spike was missed, so Japan won the third set 25-16 and secured a straight-sets victory.

As a result, Japan's overall record is now 11 wins and 0 losses, securing first place in the qualifying round and setting up a match against host country China in the quarterfinals of the final round.
