Now that the dust has finally settled on the group stages, Max and Barry chat with Mark Langdon about what it all means for England’s World Cup prospects going forward.
Mark feels that England should be fairly satisfied with their path in the bracket, with DR Congo awaiting instead of a potentially tougher tie against Senegal. A last 16 tie against Mexico or Ecuador at altitude will be a sterner test, however even that is favourable compared to other quadrants of the draw which could include ties such as Germany v France and Spain v Portugal. Mark concludes by saying that despite some fairly turgid group stage performances, England boss Thomas Tuchel has picked a squad which should come into its own come the bigger matches
