Caeleb Dressel's new DeBoer Dressel Speed 1.0 vs the Mizuno GX Sonic Royal PW in a head-to-head 50 freestyle race test. The flume data from Tenerife said one suit was more efficient — but the stopwatch told a different story.
In this video I race both suits back-to-back at the same meet, nothing changed between the swims, except the suit.

ABOUT THIS TEST
The Mizuno GX-Sonic Royal PW is Mizuno's 7th-generation sprint suit, released December 2025, built around their Sonic Light Ribtex UW fabric and Flat Swim Technology. Every men's 50 freestyle world record (SCY, SCM and LCM) has been set in a Mizuno GX Sonic — including by Caeleb Dressel himself during his 7-gold-medal 2017 World Championships.
The DeBoer Dressel Speed 1.0 is the first racing suit designed in collaboration with 7x Olympic gold medallist Caeleb Dressel, launched 2026 on the road to LA28. It uses DeBoer's proprietary 3D weaving and Italian construction with strategic hamstring taping and an elevated waist for core stability.
Both suits were tested in the ProEnduranceLab flume in Tenerife at 2.10 m/s constant pace before the race test in this video — that data is in the linked flume video above.
