🇮🇳 Vijay Sundar Prashanth/🇮🇳 Ramkumar Ramanathan🏆: Doubles champions in Bonn talk tennis

The Indian duo defeated 🇬🇧 Scott Duncan/🇸🇪 Adam Heinonen 7-6(4) 6-3 in the final at the ATP Challenger.

Prashanth and Ramanathan spoke about a range of issues, including:
- tennis fashion
- ambitions
- explaining hand signals in doubles

The ATP has proposed a controversial restructuring of professional doubles tennis for implementation by 2028, cutting prize money shares from 20% to 10%, halving draw sizes at tournaments, and prioritizing singles rankings for entry into lower-tier Challenger events.

These plans have been met with criticism, not least from the doubles players themselves.

"If ATP wants to give more money to singles players, there are other ways," Vijay Sundar Prashanth told Talking Tennis. "I don't think it's the right solution."

I've always felt if an organisation has to grow, or become good, it is about how well they treat people at the lowest level, not taking care of the people at the highest level."

I saw the marketing for the singles, it's like 90%," Ramkumar Ramanathan said.

The statistics are even more damning. According to research conducted by The First Serve, looking at the ATP Tour's YouTube, Shorts and Instagram accounts, doubles featured in just 11 of 1,768 pieces of content analysed, representing 0.6% of its total output.

"They have made it a singles vs doubles, divide and conquer. But we are all one family," Prashanth said.

On Andy Roddick and Reilly Opelka, two high-profile tennis figures who have been outspoken in their criticism of doubles, Prashanth and Ramanathan "invited them to the table." There should be a "basic respect," though, Prashanth added.
