A little dive under Swanage pier

Swanage Pier in Dorset is a popular scuba diving site on the south coast of the UK which boasts lots of marine life in a sheltered area so is perfect for new divers to experience their first UK sea dive.
The first Swanage Pier, which was 750 feet long, was built between 1859 and 1860 for use primarily by the local stone quarrying industry and included a tramway that ran the length of the pier and some way along the seafront.
Over the years it changed hands and roles until in 1994 the ownership was taken over by the Swanage pier trust and it has been a tourist attraction ever since.
As well as providing a sheltered place for scuba divers to practice, Swanage pier also has two dive charter companies who run a run of dive boats from the pier out to the many wrecks that can be found close by.
This video was taken on a dive on the morning of the 31st July 2022 just after we had got back from diving the wreck of the Fleur de Lys with Swanage Boat Charters. The Viz wasn't great but the marine life was pretty good for that close to shore.
