Colson Montgomery's RBI double in the 1st inning scored Miguel Vargas to give Chicago a 1-0 lead. Austin Hedges tied the game with a solo home run to center in the 5th inning off Sean Burke to make it 1-1.

Colson Montgomery led off the 8th with a 402-foot home run to center off Tim Herrin, giving the White Sox a 2-1 lead. Miguel Vargas added a sacrifice fly in the 9th off Matt Festa, scoring Tristan Peters to push the lead to 3-1.

Sean Burke struck out a career-high 11 over 6.0 innings; Brandon Eisert (W, 2-1) tossed 2.0 clean innings of relief, and Grant Taylor earned his 3rd save of the 2026 season with a scoreless 9th.

The Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians, 3-1, on July 4, 2026 at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio.
