This One Move Can Make Your Golf Swing Feel So Effortless
Ever had your golf swing feel fine one minute… then completely disappear out on the golf course?
Suddenly you’re trying to remember everything you’ve ever been told — stay down, turn more, don’t come over the top — and the more you think, the harder the golf swing seems to become.
In this golf lesson, Danny Maude shares one simple visual he regularly uses with students to improve ball striking, reduce unnecessary movement and make the golf swing feel far more effortless.
Danny recently used this with his wife Laura, who is returning to golf after a long break. Like many golfers, she didn’t want lots of technical swing thoughts. She simply wanted something she could see, feel and then use.
The idea is based around something incredibly simple: golf clubs are built on an angle, so our body naturally needs to move on an angle too.
Most golfers aren’t deliberately doing anything wrong. They simply don’t realise when their shoulders and eye line have started becoming too level, which can lead to excessive side-to-side movement, poor contact, loss of speed and even contribute to an over-the-top golf swing.
Once you bring your attention to the right picture, however, the body can begin to organise the movement much more naturally.
In this video, Danny Maude explains:
• Why excessive side-to-side movement can make consistent ball striking so difficult
• A simple golf swing feel that can help you stay more centred over the golf ball
• How the angle of your shoulders and eye line can influence your golf swing
• Why starting with the finish can make the downswing feel much easier
• Danny Maude’s Reverse Engineer Motion for improving iron contact without lots of swing thoughts
• How keeping the head from moving excessively forward can help create more speed and reduce an over-the-top golf swing
• A simple golf swing rehearsal you can take straight onto the course when your swing starts to disappear
The key isn’t to consciously manipulate every part of your golf swing.
Instead, Danny encourages you to start with the end in mind.
Make a rehearsal, picture the finish and then simply collect the golf ball on the way there.
Sometimes giving your body one clear destination can achieve far more than trying to consciously fix five different parts of the golf swing.
