On the final night of competition, Kate Douglass lowered her newly minted world record in the 50 Free of 23.49. By THREE TENTHS. Clocking a 23.19, Douglass registered one of the most sensational swims of the year, if not the decade. She also went on to win silver in the 200 Breast and then helped Team USA win gold in the 400 medley relay.
