Joe Burrow threw for big numbers, but his two interceptions were impossible to ignore. In a game where the Bengals had opportunities to take control, those turnovers proved costly and once again raised questions about Cincinnati’s ability to finish games when the margin for error is razor thin.
Then there’s the running game. The Bengals simply could not establish the run against Jacksonville, putting even more pressure on Burrow and the passing game to carry the offense. When Cincinnati needed to stay balanced and control the clock, the inability to run the football became a major problem.
Defensively, missed tackles also played a huge role. Jordan Battle in particular had opportunities to make plays but couldn’t consistently finish them. Against a team like Jacksonville, those missed opportunities add up quickly — and Bengals fans have every right to be frustrated.
And then came another chance for Joe Burrow to orchestrate a game-winning drive.
The Bengals got the ball late with an opportunity to complete the comeback, but once again, Cincinnati came up short. That’s becoming the biggest question surrounding this team: Can the Bengals actually close out the games they need to win?
Are the Bengals still a legitimate contender, or are these recurring problems signs of something bigger?
We’re breaking it all down on this episode of Bengals Overreaction Monday — including Joe Burrow’s interceptions, the nonexistent running game, Jordan Battle’s missed tackles, the defense, the final drive, and what this loss means for the Bengals moving forward.
