Las Vegas: “We Took Our Eye Off the Ball”

Denny Hamlin and Jared are back in the studio after a frustrating Sunday, and there’s plenty to break down.

Before getting into Denny’s own race, the guys react to the wild finish in the O’Reilly race, where Corey Day held off Carson Kvapil. Then Denny walks through his decision to pit from the lead, what caused the spin right before the end of Stage 1, and what he knew about Kyle Larson’s position on the track. Would that information have changed how he drove the corner? Denny also explains how much damage the car actually suffered and what happened when the car suddenly cut off.

Kyle Larson didn’t have a race-winning car when the day started, but somehow found himself in position to almost pull it off at the end. Austin Cindric is also on a serious run lately, and Jared has a theory about the secret behind it: the hair.

Plus, just how much power steering did Christopher Bell really have?

With the next race heading to Charlotte and the ROVAL officially out of the picture, Denny and Jared look ahead to what could be a very different weekend. They also react to some of the biggest news from the week, including Brad Keselowski leaving RFK Racing, Sheldon Creed’s move and what it means for the O’Reilly Series, and the surprising possibility of Kasey Kahne returning to the Truck Series.
