49 points. The lowest any WNBA team has scored all season. The Valkyries did that.
Golden State extended their winning streak to five games — the longest active streak in the WNBA — with a 62-49 win over the Washington Mystics on July 7, 2026. The Valkyries held Washington to just 16 points in the second half, the first time any WNBA team has accomplished that feat since 2021.
It wasn't pretty offensively — Golden State scored just 11 points in the first quarter on 4-of-17 shooting — but the defense never wavered. The Valkyries forced five first-quarter turnovers and held Washington without a made three in the opening period. A 9-0 run to start the second quarter flipped the momentum, sparked by Kaila Charles, Kaitlyn Chen, Tiffany Hayes, and Janelle Salaün. Golden State then outscored the Mystics 19-7 in the third quarter, holding Washington to 3-of-16 from the field, before closing the game on a dominant run.
Veronica Burton and Tiffany Hayes led the charge in the second half, combining for more made field goals in the third quarter than the entire Mystics team.
