Cal's Ashten Emory scored the go-ahead touchdown for the Golden Bears with 18 seconds left, but Virginia Tech still had a chance from the Cal 7-yard line to get a game-winning touchdown. Emory finished the game with 46 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Quarterback Jackson Brousseau threw for 321 yards and a touchdown on 29 of 43 passing. Wide receiver Ian Strong caught five passes for 97 yards. Virginia Tech quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer completed 21 of 31 passes for 288 yards and a touchdown, and he had a rushing touchdown as well.
