Larry Bird vs. Chuck Person: The TRASH TALKING Nobody Remembers 📼 1991 Playoffs Tapes

Another entry from the CLNS archive vault — April 26, 1991, Boston Garden. Game 1 of the Celtics–Pacers first-round series, and the night a Larry Bird–Chuck Person rivalry that started in Person's rookie year boiled over on live TV.

Bird was coming off a month of rest for his back. He shot 6-for-20 and still finished with a triple-double: 21 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists and 3 steals in Boston's 127–120 win. Reggie Lewis scored 28, Kevin McHale added 25 in 27 minutes, and Robert Parish went 10-for-12. Chuck Person had 23 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. And in the middle of it, a Bird–Person staredown turned into a McHale shove, a technical foul, and a coach who was not happy about it.
