Milwaukee seized control early behind the bats of William Contreras and Jake Bauers, who hit back-to-back home runs in the third inning. Contreras finished with three hits, two RBIs, and two walks, while Bauers added a homer and two hits of his own. Brewers hitters consistently put pressure on Reds starter Rhett Lowder, who allowed three earned runs over 5 2/3 innings despite recording six strikeouts.

The decisive moment came in the seventh inning when Andrew Vaughn delivered a pinch-hit, bases-clearing double that stretched Milwaukee’s lead to 6-1. At that point, it appeared the Brewers were on their way to a comfortable victory.

To their credit, the Reds refused to go quietly. Blake Dunn, Eugenio Suárez, Sal Stewart, and Spencer Steer helped fuel a late rally, with Steer’s two-run homer in the eighth inning cutting the deficit and energizing the home crowd. Cincinnati continued the pressure in the ninth, loading the bases with one out against Brewers closer Joel Kuhnel. However, the comeback ended abruptly when Dane Myers grounded into a game-ending 6-4-3 double play.

The sweep was particularly disappointing for Cincinnati because all three games were competitive. The Reds lost the opener 2-1, dropped the second game 2-0, and then came up just short in the 6-5 finale. Being swept at home by a division rival highlighted the challenges the club faces as it tries to climb back into the playoff race.
