Tigers Collab with Detroit Designer Jon Genius on Detroit Stars Merch for Black in Baseball Weekend

The Tigers collaborated with Detroit graphic designer Jon Genius on a limited-edition t-shirt design honoring the Detroit Stars for Black in Baseball Weekend.

"It's important to tell stories that can be forgotten. Oftentimes things like the Negro Leagues can be left out of the conversation. The Negro Leagues in general are inspiring; to have the resilience to form your own league in an era where we weren't allowed to exist together, that's powerful."

Tigers colleagues from video, photography, retail and brand marketing joined students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit at the BGC Spark Lab located inside Michigan Central Station for a shadowing experience during the production shoot for the Jon Genius collaboration. A representative from each of the noted departments gave a synopsis of how a project like this comes to life and how collaboration is key. Students were able to ask questions about their careers as well as technical questions about the project and then watched the video and photo teams direct the shoot. Students were gifted Detroit Stars hats, the featured t-shirt and tickets to the game on Sunday, June 21.
