In the wake behind Gretchen Walsh's World Record in the women's 50 meter free on Friday in Charlottesville was three-time U.S. Olympian Abbey Weitzeil.
While Weitzeil (23.72) was almost a full-second behind Walsh (22.75), she was swimming her own race on Friday. That was her first swim since the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and more significantly it was her first race since giving birth in February to her first child.
