Gabby Thomas is running the best 200m season of her life. She has broken 21.90 in her last four races (most recently 21.83 in Budapest on Tuesday) and winning three of them. The loss came in Monaco last week, when Julien Alfred ran 21.51 (the third-fastest 200m in history) to beat Thomas's 21.84. Now the two race again in London.
Thomas comes into this weekend as the reigning Olympic 200m champion and one of two American athletes in the field with a real case to be the world's best in her event. What's changed in her 2026 is the sustained level: an unbroken stretch of sub-21.90 racing is a version of Thomas her rivals haven't had to face this consistently before.
