Miami Heat fans, what if Pat Riley’s next big move comes AFTER a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade?
In today’s episode of Miami Heat Talk, we break down why Toronto Raptors forward-center Sandro Mamukelashvili could be one of the most underrated free-agent targets available this offseason.
If the Miami Heat successfully trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, they will likely have to part with multiple rotation players, young talent, and draft picks. That means Miami will need to find affordable, impactful players to rebuild its depth and strengthen the bench.
That’s where Mamu comes in.
Mamukelashvili is coming off an impressive season with Toronto, averaging over 11 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting nearly 39% from three-point range. At 6’9”, he provides floor spacing, rebounding, versatility, and the ability to play both power forward and center.
With Bam Adebayo and Giannis Antetokounmpo controlling the paint, Miami would need a stretch big capable of opening the floor for both stars. Mamu’s shooting ability and offensive skill set make him an ideal fit in Erik Spoelstra’s system.
We also discuss Miami’s financial flexibility, including:
• $15 million Mid-Level Exception
• $5.5 million Bi-Annual Exception
• $16.8 million Trade Exception
• $5.6 million Trade Exception
Could the Heat use part of the MLE to offer Mamukelashvili a multi-year deal while preserving enough cap flexibility to add additional talent?
Let me know your thoughts in the comments. Would you sign Sandro Mamukelashvili if Miami lands Giannis Antetokounmpo?
