The opening set was the longest of the match. The hosts led 15-12 until the middle of the set. In a long-lasting rally, Serbian диагональный Nikola Meljanac brought his team a point with a powerful attack, and then an ace from Cheslavs Sventiks and a mistake in attack by Pavel Zheleznyakov equalized the score at 15-15. From that point on, the game became a close one. The visitors were the first to reach the set point, after Svintskis's ace – 24:22. However, two successful attacks by the Nizhny Novgorod captain, Alexander Pyatyrkin, and Zheleznyakov allowed the hosts to tie the score and turn the game into a two-point difference. The game reached the 30-point mark. With the score at 31:31, Melyanac's powerful block attack was followed by a decisive point from Iranian setter Mobin Nasri – 33:31.
At the beginning of the second set, the Nizhny Novgorod team managed to take a 10-5 lead and maintain it almost until the end. With a 22-19 advantage, the visitors made a breakthrough: a Mabin pip, an out-of-bounds attack by Gorky's Belarusian setter Artem Masko, and a comeback from Melyanats' block - 22-22. This time, the hosts reached the set point first, thanks to a clever Masko set. However, a subsequent mistake by the setter once again put the teams in a tiebreak. The Yaroslavich legionnaires decided the issue by attacking Nasri and Melyanats, winning 29:27 and 2:0.
The third set was completely dominated by the hosts. Andrey Dranishnikov's team demonstrated their best blocking skills, managing to block six of the opponent's attacks in a single set. This allowed the Nizhny Novgorod team to confidently win the set with a score of 25:16.
However, the Gorky team was unable to maintain their dominance. In the middle of the fourth set, the visitors began to score points in the tiebreak, increasing their advantage to 18:15 on Ces's serves. Despite all the opponent's attempts to reduce the gap, the Yaroslavl team steadily moved towards victory. Symbolically, the final two goals were scored by Movin, resulting in a 25-20 and 3-1 victory for Yaroslavich.
