Enjoying golf with my 💯 year old dad! 🔥⛳️🔥

This is one of the many reasons why I love golf so much. The game presents us with the opportunity to spend time together, create shared memories and have a couple of laughs along the way

I returned to my hometown on Brampton just outside of Toronto for my dad’s 💯th birthday celebration. I arrived a couple of days early from Vancouver without my clubs or anything related to playing a round. The weather was so nice that I decided to pop over to Peel Village Golf Club, a beautifully designed and challenging nine hole track that opened a few years before my dad was born.

I invited my dad to join me, which he vehemently rejected as I think he was under the impression that he would be playing and walking the course. I reframed the experience as a two hour adventure in a “Lazyboy on four wheel”. Sold.

My dad never really played golf and hasn’t been on a course in over half a century. But golf always manages to meet people where they are at, creating a memorable day with my dad that connected him to all of the wonderful people we crossed paths with.

My favourite moment was walking back to the golf cart after hitting a poor shot with one of my mud encrusted mismatched rental clubs, my dad coolly looked me in the eye and said “you need to focus more”. Amazing. 💕⛳️💕
