🚨 THE MIAMI HEAT HAVE THREE NEW POTENTIAL TARGETS TO CONSIDER!
The NBA roster shake-up is here, and three intriguing players are suddenly available after being waived by their respective teams! 👀🔥
According to reports from ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Memphis Grizzlies waived Walter Clayton Jr., the Milwaukee Bucks waived Kevin Porter Jr., and the Los Angeles Lakers waived Dalton Knecht ahead of the regular-season roster deadline.
Could the Miami Heat take advantage of this opportunity and add another piece to their roster? Which of these three players would make the most sense alongside Bam Adebayo, Tyler Herro, Davion Mitchell, Jaime Jaquez Jr., and the rest of Miami’s young core?
Today on Miami Heat Talk, we’re breaking down all three players, their statistics, their strengths and weaknesses, and how they could fit into Erik Spoelstra’s system!
🏀 WALTER CLAYTON JR. — A YOUNG POINT GUARD WITH UPSIDE
Clayton averaged 7.8 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game during the 2025-26 season. He also shot 38.4% from the field and 30.7% from three-point range.
The former Florida Gators standout offers youth, ball-handling, and playmaking potential. Miami could look at him as a developmental guard who might compete for minutes while learning Spoelstra’s system. However, his shooting efficiency would need to improve before he could become a reliable rotation option.
🔥 KEVIN PORTER JR. — THE BIGGEST IMMEDIATE UPSIDE?
Porter averaged 17.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 2.2 steals in 38 games for Milwaukee during the 2025-26 season, shooting 46.5% from the field.
His ability to create his own shot, attack the basket, handle the ball, and generate offense for teammates makes him a fascinating potential addition. Miami could use another guard capable of creating offense when the first action breaks down.
The concern? Porter underwent right-knee surgery in April 2026, and his health, availability, and fit alongside Miami’s existing guards would all need to be evaluated.
🎯 DALTON KNECHT — A SHOOTER WHO COULD SPREAD THE FLOOR
Knecht averaged 4.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in 54 games for the Lakers during the 2025-26 season, shooting 34.2% from three-point range.
His rookie season was more encouraging: he averaged 9.1 points per game and shot 37.6% from beyond the arc. At 6-foot-6, Knecht offers perimeter shooting and wing size that could help Miami create more room for Bam’s interior game and the Heat’s attacking guards.
The question is whether he can regain his rookie-year shooting form and improve enough defensively to earn consistent minutes.
🔥 WHO SHOULD THE MIAMI HEAT PURSUE?
If Miami wants immediate offensive creation, Kevin Porter Jr. could offer the highest upside, provided his knee is healthy. If the Heat want a younger developmental point guard, Walter Clayton Jr. is worth discussing. If their priority is adding a perimeter shooter, Dalton Knecht deserves consideration.
None of these players is a guaranteed solution, but all three give Heat fans an interesting debate about roster construction, depth, and opportunity.
👇 HEAT NATION, I NEED YOUR OPINION!
1. Which player would you sign: Walter Clayton Jr., Kevin Porter Jr., or Dalton Knecht?
2. Who would fit best next to Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro?
3. Should Miami prioritize another playmaker, a shooter, or defensive depth?
4. Would you sign any of these players at all?
