Why One Hold Gets Called and the Other Doesn't — Chip Clark Breaks It Down
Basketball
This is one of the cleanest teaching moments I've seen from a referee educator in a long time.
Chip Clark breaks down why the Hartenstein hold on Chet in the background was completely incidental — zero possession consequence, zero effect on the play — while the Wemby contact had to be penalized because it directly prevented him from securing the rebound.
That distinction right there is everything. It's not about whether contact happened. It's about whether that contact changed the outcome. Once you understand that, a lot of calls that seem inconsistent start making a lot more sense. #shorts
