De Zerbi: Fernandes Can Be One of the Best Midfielders in Europe | EMBARGOED PRESS CONFERENCE

Roberto De Zerbi's press conference before Tottenham vs Crystal Palace: he says Mateus Fernandes "can become one of the best midfielders in Europe", but warns that "the world is going too fast" after fans compared him to Luka Modric. Plus Kulusevski, Kudus, Savio's return and why Spurs aren't changing mood.

Asked about the Modric comparison, De Zerbi points out that two weeks ago the same player was being called "a disaster" and "not good enough", and says he told Fernandes to stop listening to the media: "He was a very good player before Chelsea and he's the same player after Chelsea." He puts Savio, Xavi Simons, Bergvall and Archie Gray in the same bracket.

On Kulusevski's hour of daily stretching, De Zerbi says he's "a great example" for the young players and "stronger than injuries". He explains why Robertson was right to call Kudus crucial, reveals Kudus played as a nine and a ten at Ajax and "is capable to score more goals", and talks through why having players with different characteristics, from Tel and Kudus to Tonali and Bergvall, makes Spurs better.

Savio should be back after the international break. And on how he'll fit everyone in: "It's my problem, not your problem."
