One of the SHORTEST Sets in Women's Volleyball History !!! 25–4 in the first set! China delivered a devastating performance against Iraq at the AVC Women’s Continental Championship 2026, opening their campaign with a commanding 3–0 victory in Tianjin on August 22, 2026. The hosts won their Pool A preliminary match 25–4, 25–6, 25–6, allowing Iraq just 16 points across the entire contest.

The opening set was extraordinary. China raced into a 5–0 lead before stretching their advantage to 13–1. Iraq struggled to keep pace, adding only three more points before China sealed the set 25–4. A staggering 21-point margin showed just how firmly the hosts controlled the action from the beginning. China won 25 of the set’s 29 points—approximately 86%—and scored more points in that first set alone than Iraq managed in the entire match.

China showed no signs of slowing down in the second set, building a 10–0 lead before taking it 25–6. The third set brought another relentless scoring run, with China winning 15 consecutive points on their way to another 25–6 finish. According to Xinhua, the match required just 52 minutes of playing time.

Head coach Zhao Yong also used the match to give his entire squad valuable court time. All 14 Chinese players appeared, with different lineups deployed across the three sets. Every Chinese player except the two liberos contributed points, demonstrating the depth of the hosts’ squad.

Zhuang Yushan led all scorers with 13 points, combining eight successful attacks, four service aces and one block. Tang Xin added 12 points through nine attacks, two blocks and one ace, while Wang Aoqian contributed another nine points. For Iraq, middle blocker Doreem Shamow led the scoring with six points, all from attacks, and was the only Iraqi player to register more than one individual point.

Across the whole match, China recorded eight service aces and 10 scoring blocks, while Iraq finished without an ace or a scoring block. China’s pressure from the service line, attacking strength and control at the net helped produce a remarkable overall points tally of 75–16.

The unforgettable 25–4 opening set defined this match: an emphatic start in front of China’s home supporters and a powerful demonstration of the team’s quality at the AVC Women’s Continental Championship 2026.
