Why PJ Washington Is Primed For A Reset with the Dallas Mavericks

PJ Washington is ready for a fresh start as the Dallas Mavericks open training camp, and his media day interview sheds new light on what went wrong last season and why the Mavs believe health is the key to everything. With Kyrie Irving back, Cooper Flagg entering his second season, and a new-look roster under Dusty May, can PJ Washington bounce back as a do-everything starter for one of the NBA's most reshaped teams?

Nick Angstadt breaks down the Locked On Mavs media day interview he and Isaac Harris did with PJ Washington, who opens up about one of the toughest seasons of his career, the freak ankle injury from stepping on a ball, and the Mavericks' vibe shift under Dusty May and Masai Ujiri. Nick explains why last season should be a wash for PJ Washington, how his utility role fits next to Kyrie Irving and Cooper Flagg, and what the arrivals of Zaccharie Risacher, Santi Aldama, Marcus Sasser, Tarik Biberovic, Sergio De Larrea, and Morez Johnson Jr. mean for the new-look roster. What did PJ Washington say about Daniel Gafford, Naji Marshall, Max Christie, Dereck Lively II, and the 24-hour tattoo session that put a Mavs playoff win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on his leg?
