Indonesia vs Australia | Highlights | AVC Women's Continental Championship 2026. Indonesia produced a commanding performance against Australia in the preliminary phase of the 2026 AVC Women’s Volleyball Continental Championship, winning the match in straight sets, 3–0.

The match was played on August 26, 2026, at the Tianjin Olympic Center Gymnasium in Tianjin, China. It was Indonesia’s final match in Pool B and carried major importance because a victory would guarantee the team a place in the quarterfinals.

Indonesia won with set scores of 25–18, 25–17 and 25–21. Across the three sets, Indonesia outscored Australia 75–56 and never allowed the Volleyroos to take control of the contest.

Indonesia began the opening set aggressively. Their serving pressure, organized defense and fast attacking combinations prevented Australia from establishing a consistent rhythm. Mediol Stiovanny Yoku and her teammates quickly created separation on the scoreboard before closing the set 25–18.

The Indonesian team became even more dominant in the second set. Australia struggled with Indonesia’s varied offense and could not consistently stop the attacks coming from the wings. Indonesia maintained control throughout the set and won it comfortably, 25–17, moving one set away from the quarterfinals.

Australia showed its strongest resistance in the third set and remained competitive for longer. However, Indonesia stayed composed during the decisive stages. Their defensive organization, transition play and ability to finish the important rallies allowed them to pull away and complete the sweep, 25–21.

Arsela Nuari Purnama and Aulia Suci Nurfadila, also known as Aulia Devega, were Indonesia’s leading scorers with 14 points each. Their balanced contribution was especially important because Indonesia competed in this championship without its biggest international star, Megawati Hangestri Pertiwi.

The victory gave Indonesia a final Pool B record of two wins and one defeat. Indonesia had previously beaten Kazakhstan 3–0 before losing to defending champion Thailand in straight sets. By defeating Australia, Indonesia finished second in Pool B behind Thailand and secured direct qualification for the quarterfinals.

For Australia, the result completed a difficult preliminary campaign. The Volleyroos finished at the bottom of Pool B after being unable to win a match or a set during the group phase. Although Australia’s third-set performance was more competitive, Indonesia’s serving, ball control and attacking efficiency proved too strong.

This was also Indonesia’s second straight-set victory over Australia in 2026. The teams had previously met on June 14 in the fifth-place match at the AVC Women’s Cup, where Indonesia won 3–0 with set scores of 25–13, 25–19 and 26–24.

The result was significant for a relatively young Indonesian squad coached by Marcos Sugiyama. Reaching the last eight fulfilled the team’s initial objective and kept alive its ambition of finishing among the top six teams in the championship. Team captain Mediol Stiovanny Yoku emphasized that Indonesia would still need to improve its defense and attack before facing physically taller opposition in the knockout stage.
