The Chicago White Sox scored 22 runs for the first time since 5/31/1970 at Boston (also 22 runs), tied for the second-most in franchise history.
Miguel Vargas launched a 3-run home run in the bottom of the 3rd inning, scoring Jacob Gonzalez and Sam Antonacci, giving Chicago a 3-0 lead. Chase Meidroth singled on a ground ball, scoring Andrew Benintendi to extend the White Sox lead to 4. Tristan Peters singled on a ground ball, driving home Andrew Benintendi and Chase Meidroth. Jacob Gonzalez followed with a 3-run home run of his own later in the 3rd, with Vargas adding a run-scoring double to cap an impressive 10-run inning.
Andrew Benintendi hit a solo home run in the 4th, and Kyle Teel connected on a 2-run shot in the 5th to push the White Sox lead to 13-1.
Tristan Peters hit a grand slam in the 6th inning, scoring Colson Montgomery, Chase Meidroth, and Braden Montgomery to extend the lead to 17-1, before a 5-run 7th put the game firmly away at 22-1.
David Sandlin (W, 2-1) tossed 6.0 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts. Jordan Hicks, Brandon Eisert and Trevor Richards completed the final 3 innings of relief.
