Former Cincinnati Bearcats men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins was inducted into the University of Cincinnati’s James P. Kelly Athletics Hall of Fame on Friday night.
Huggins coached the Bearcats from 1989–2005, compiling a program-record 399 wins. During his 16 seasons, Cincinnati made 14 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances, reached the 1992 Final Four, won 10 regular-season conference championships and eight conference tournament titles.
Huggins finished his 41-season college head coaching career with 935 victories and was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2022.
The induction comes just two days after Huggins’ family announced that the 73-year-old is living with a progressive cognitive condition that has begun affecting his memory and aspects of his daily life. His family said the condition had been kept private for several months.
