Lani Pallister on 800 Free WR: "Definitely a world record I think I'm capable of"

For the second time, a Dean Boxall-trained athlete has ended a legendary Katie Ledecky streak. Last night, in the last individual race of the Pan Pacific Championships, Lani Pallister of Australia took the win in the women's 800 free. This relegated Katie Ledecky to silver, handing the 14x Olympic medalist her first international loss in the event ever.

After the race, Pallister showed a lot of respect toward Ledecky but was firm in her goals moving forward. When asked about the 800 free world record, Pallister said it's a record she thinks she's capable of breaking, noting that she is already the world record holder in the SCM 800 free.
