Cincinnati enters the contest at 4-2 and riding high after an impressive 35-13 road victory over the Baltimore Ravens. After falling behind 13-0 at halftime, the Bengals responded by scoring on their first five possessions of the second half. That kind of resilience is exactly what head coach Zac Taylor wants to see as his team builds momentum heading into November.
Quarterback Joe Burrow has been outstanding, completing 71.4% of his passes while throwing 15 touchdowns against just three interceptions. He's coming off another four-touchdown performance and appears to be playing some of his best football. Wide receivers Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins give Cincinnati one of the NFL's most dangerous receiving combinations. Tight end Mike Gesicki has also emerged as a valuable red-zone weapon.
Tennessee, meanwhile, arrives in Cincinnati struggling at 1-6. The Titans suffered a disappointing 27-24 loss to Cleveland last weekend after building an early 14-0 advantage. Quarterback Cam Ward and running back Tony Pollard will need strong performances if Tennessee hopes to pull off an upset.
One significant development is Tennessee's trade of defensive star Jeffery Simmons to Chicago, leaving the Titans without one of their most disruptive defensive players.
The key matchup will be Tennessee's defense trying to contain Burrow and Cincinnati's explosive passing attack. The Bengals also have an opportunity to exploit a Titans defense that has struggled to consistently finish games.
The bottom line: Cincinnati has the quarterback, offensive weapons, home-field advantage and momentum. Anything can happen in the NFL, but the Bengals should be considered heavy favorites.
