Roland Garros qualifier Maja Chwalinska had no expectations of reaching the semifinals in Paris. Her goal was simply to reach the main draw. Chwalinska scored upsets of Zheng Qinwen, Elise Mertens, Maria Sakkari, Diane Parry, and Anna Kalinskaya to reach the semifinals, becoming the sixth qualifier in the Open Era to reach the semifinals at a Grand Slam.
