Jalen Davis continues to make a strong case to lock down the Bengals’ starting nickel cornerback job.
The veteran defensive back came up with arguably the defensive play of the day Saturday, intercepting Joe Burrow after reading his eyes on a rollout. Burrow, under pressure from Boye Mafe, tried to find Drew Sample on the scramble, but Davis stepped in front of the underthrown pass for the takeaway.
The interception adds to an impressive camp for Davis, who entered training camp as the favorite to win the starting slot corner role after a strong finish to the 2025 season. Head coach Al Golden has praised Davis’ communication and football IQ, while Ja’Marr Chase recently called him a “savvy vet” who knows opponents’ tendencies.
