Miami's Memorable Start To The Jai Lucas Era
General Sports
It was a year for the record books for the Miami Hurricanes men's basketball team in head coach Jai Lucas' first year on the job. After two seasons where Miami went 22-41 overall, the Hurricanes had an entirely new roster in 2025-26, and they were predicted to finish eighth in the ACC. The Hurricanes vastly surpassed all expectations. Miami finished the season 26-9, was the three-seed in the ACC Tournament, and made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Lucas got the team off to a hot start at 15-2, the best start and school record, and ended up tying the program record with 24 regular season wins. Miami's 19-win improvement from the 2024-25 season to the 2025-26 season tied an NCAA record for the biggest one-year turnaround. Look back at this memorable first season for the Miami Hurricanes under coach Jai Lucas.
