There are a handful of players who get the same response every time you suggest
they might do something good this season. That guy is washed.

Father Time is undefeated, and the overwhelming majority of top fantasy
performers have been under 30. So Ian Hartitz takes the 10 veterans he keeps
getting yelled at about, works out how bright the red flags actually are, scores
every one of them on the WASHED SCALE out of 10, and figures out who benefits if
the player really is finished.

The ten, and where they landed:

Alvin Kamara, 7/10. Career-worst 3.6 yards a carry, but his rush yards before
contact matched Ashton Jeanty and Quinshon Judkins behind a line ranked 28th, and
the Saints were first in pace last season. He took a $5.5 million pay cut to stay,
so Ian would be surprised if this gets close to a 50/50 split with Travis Etienne.

Mike Evans, 4/10. Bottom-10 in yards per target, passer rating when targeted and
catch rate. But Ian ran the numbers: a 61% catchable target rate last year against
72.4% from Brock Purdy with screens removed, an 11-point swing, and the largest he
could find among receivers changing quarterbacks. Evans is his WR20 and that feels
low.

Davante Adams, 5/10. His lowest yards per game since 2015, and he still caught a
league-high 14 touchdowns. 28 end zone targets is 10 clear of anyone else and the
most in TruMedia's data going back to 2009. Sure seems to have the most realistic
age-friendly role of anyone here.

Christian McCaffrey, 3/10. 3.9 yards a carry off 450 touches, but more PPR points
from receiving alone than Saquon Barkley scored in total. Still Ian's third-ranked
player overall.

Aaron Rodgers, 9/10. He can still throw it 60 yards, and that is about it. But 15
of the 20 quarterbacks aged 38 or older with 10+ starts over the last decade led a
top-eight running back target offense, which is the actual reason to care.

DJ Moore, 4/10. Yards per route run has fallen three straight seasons, 2.31 to
1.45 to 1.23. Now he catches passes from Josh Allen.

Geno Smith, 8/10. Led the NFL in interceptions and sacks for the Raiders' last-place
scoring offense. Too many ifs for a Round 3-4 pick.

Mark Andrews, 5/10. Cleared 50 receiving yards exactly once all season. But only 2%
of top-12 fantasy running backs over the last decade were 31 or older, and at tight
end it is 20%, ten times more. A prime late-round target.

JK Dobbins, 4/10. Less a washed question than a health one: 15, 0, 8, 1, 13 and 10
games in six seasons.

Travis Kelce, 9/10. A third straight year under six touchdowns off a 10-year low in
targets. The gap between him and the TE16 was 1.1 PPR points a game.
