Kittle & Bosa Head to Australia, 49ers Set 53-Man Roster | We Want Winners

In this episode of We Want Winners — the San Francisco 49ers podcast on BSPN — Rod Adams and Garrett Gonzales dig into a loaded week of 49ers news.

George Kittle (recovering from a torn Achilles) and Nick Bosa (recovering from a torn ACL) are both making the trip to Australia with the team — a strong signal both could be active for the September 10 opener against the Rams at Melbourne Cricket Ground. Rod and Garrett break down the 49ers' travel strategy: departing Wednesday to arrive Friday and get nearly a full week to adjust to the 17-hour time difference, compared to the Rams' plan to fly in just a day before kickoff.

They also break down the newly announced 53-man roster, including the releases of CB Eli Apple, LB Deion Jones, and RB Khalil Herbert, plus IR/PUP moves for WR Christian Kirk and DL Mykel Williams, and what the final roster says about the depth chart heading into Week 1.

From there, a recap of the 49ers' preseason finale — an 18-12 win over the Raiders keyed by a perfect night from kicker Eddy Piñeiro (6-for-6 on field goals, including a 59-yarder) and a strong defensive effort that closed out the preseason at 2-1.

And finally, they get into the fallout from 49ers owner Jed York's arrest in Ohio: York pleaded no contest to disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools, and NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has confirmed the league is reviewing his conduct under its personal conduct policy.
