Devin Booker, our franchise’s all-time leading scorer, will change his jersey number from No. 1 to No. 15 starting the 2026-27 season, paying homage to his father, Melvin Booker.

“I’ve been chasing 15 my whole career,” said Devin Booker alongside his father in an announcement video. “It’s always been a family number. Obviously, [my dad] wore it and I looked at [him] as the blueprint for success. A new chapter to honor [my dad], everything that [he’s] done for me. I’m excited about it.”

Melvin Booker, who played professionally in the NBA and overseas, wore jersey No. 15 while starring at the University of Missouri from 1990-94. As a senior in 1993-94, he earned All-America and Big Eight Player of the Year honors in leading the Tigers to their only perfect conference record in program history. Melvin Booker also wore No. 15 during his time at Moss Point (Miss.) High School, the same school Devin Booker would later attend upon his father’s urging that it was the best environment for Devin to pursue his basketball dreams.

Devin Booker has previously worn the No. 15 jersey in representing the United States and winning two gold medals at the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. One of just 24 men to win multiple Olympic gold medals in basketball, he averaged 10.5 points while starting 11 of 12 games across the two tournaments, earning praise for his “I’ll do it” mentality.
