FC Cincinnati suffered one of its worst defeats of the 2026 MLS season, falling 5-0 to the Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park in a brutal night for the Orange and Blue. FC Cincinnati went down to 10 men in the 16th minute when Obinna Nwobodo was sent off following a VAR review, and Philadelphia took full advantage from there. Quinn Sullivan converted a penalty in the 43rd minute before Bruno Damiani doubled the Union’s lead in first-half stoppage time, and the Philadelphia forward completed his hat trick with two more goals early in the second half. Milan Iloski added another penalty in the 89th minute to finish the 5-0 rout.
On this episode of The Flyin Lion Podcast, we react LIVE to everything that happened in Philadelphia, including Nwobodo’s red card, the two penalty decisions, FC Cincinnati’s defensive collapse, Pat Noonan’s lineup and substitutions, and a performance that saw FCC record just one shot and zero shots on target while Philadelphia finished with 18 shots and 64.7% possession.
We break down what went wrong for FC Cincinnati, whether the red card completely changed the match or simply exposed problems that were already there, the defensive performance, the lack of attacking production, and what this result means for an FCC team that now sits at 8-8-7 with 31 points.
We’ll also look ahead to Saturday’s matchup against Charlotte FC at TQL Stadium and discuss what absolutely has to change after a 5-0 loss. Is this simply a disastrous night on the road, or is this another sign of deeper problems for FC Cincinnati heading into the final stretch of the MLS regular season?
