Five Players, Four Nations — Nyanin on the Valkyries' World Cup Representation

Golden State's Ohemaa Nyanin reflected on what it means to see the Valkyries represented on basketball's biggest international stage in Berlin. Having spent nearly a decade with the @FIBA family before joining the organization, Nyanin called this trip to the World Cup particularly special, highlighting the opportunity to watch the team's athletes compete for their countries.

Nyanin broke down the remarkable scope of representation, with five players spanning four different nationalities. That includes a future WNBA draft pick playing against her potential future teammates, two members of the French national team including team captain duties, and a player experiencing her first World Cup while representing Australia.

Beyond the players, Nyanin highlighted something she called truly special. Both the head coach and the team's head athletic trainer earned selections to represent Team USA in their respective roles. For a franchise still in just its second year of existence, having two staff members honored this way speaks to the caliber of people the organization has built around itself, and the doors that continues to open.
