HIGHLIGHTS: Sky Claim Victory Over Tempo 97-85 in Home Finale

The Chicago Sky defeated the Toronto Tempo in their final home game of the season 97-85 in Wintrust Arena on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The Sky are now 16-27 on the season, 4-15 against the Eastern Conference, 1-2 against the Tempo all time and closed the season 11-11 at home.

In yet another All-Rookie worthy performance, guard Sydney Taylor posted 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, a block and a steal while shooting a perfect 5 for 5 from the charity stripe. The undrafted rookie notched her 15th game scoring 15 or more points this season.

Fellow rookie Gabriela Jaquez scored 18 points on an 80% clip from the field and a 66.7% look from beyond the arc. Guard Jacy Sheldon delivered an efficient 12 points, four assists and two rebounds to fuel the Sky’s offense. Five-time All-Star Courtney Vandersloot scored 10 points and dished out nine assists.

Kamilla Cardoso and Elizabeth Williams anchored the boards in tonight’s game. Cardoso registered 17 points, seven rebounds and two blocks on a highly efficient 72.7% mark from the field. Her seven boards earned her the No. 5 spot on Chicago’s all-time rebounds list. Williams yielded six points and a season-high 11 rebounds. The Sky finished the night outscoring the Tempo 54-28 in the paint.

The Sky’s developmental players were key contributors in tonight’s victory. In her first game in a Chicago jersey, guard Kate Martin recorded five points while shooting 50% from the floor. Forward Morgan Maly tallied eight points, an assist and a steal on a 66.7% look from deep.
