Safety Jakobe Thomas transferred to Miami for his senior season and helped turn a secondary that had been one of the team's biggest weaknesses in 2024 into one of the team's strengths in 2025. A hard-hitting ballhawk, Toomas picked off five passes and forced two fumbles for Miami while also totaling 76 tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. Pro Football Focus gave Thomas an 89.1 coverage grade, which was 19th among safeties, and an 87.3 overall defensive grade, which was 21st among safeties.
