Before his USMNT debut, there were backyard sessions with his dad, rides to training, and a family that believed in him every step of the way.
Go inside the life of 17-year-old New York Red Bulls midfielder Adri Mehmeti as he prepares for the first senior national team camp that would lead to his USMNT debut. In this episode of BREAKAWAY, Mehmeti reflects on the parents who made his journey possible, sharing a national team call-up with his close friend and teammate Julian Hall, and the moment his dad’s eyes lit up when the email arrived.
From conversations on the drive home to the advice he carries onto the field, discover the family and Albanian roots behind one of MLS’s rising talents, and a dream that belongs to all of them.
BREAKAWAY is an MLS feature series that tells the stories of the person behind the player, and the roads they have traveled to get where they are, and ultimately become who they are.
