“We are West Ham, we’re going to win the league because we’re better than everyone.”
Max talks to Guardian football correspondent Will Unwin about West Ham’s lacklustre start to their Championship season and what they must tackle to achieve a fast return back to top flight football.
Despite boasting top class Premier League quality in their ranks with the likes of Jarrod Bowen, the Hammers got off to a slow start against Burnley and Will feels they need to relinquish some of the conservatism they have exhibited under Nuno Espírito Santo.
While they also need new signings, Will believes the fact that their two goals were their only shots on target shows that releasing the handbrake is also a must or they will continue to drop points in the race for promotion.
