I don't believe the hot hand is some random guy who can't shoot suddenly going nuclear for a night. That's noise, not signal.
What I do believe in is a great shooter solving a defense in real time and finding that rhythm. And here's the part that changed my thinking: the zone doesn't have to start from three.
Coach Majkrzak makes a great point here. A pull up midrange jumper falling, or a mid post 15 footer going down a few times, can be exactly what gets a guy locked in before he ever gets hot from deep. The threes are often just the end result of the rhythm, not where it starts. #shorts
