Pirates prospect Carlos Tejera is quickly becoming a name to know.
The 18-year-old outfielder signed for just $90,000, spent only 18 games in the Dominican Summer League before being pushed stateside, and has already produced a max exit velocity of 110 mph. That type of raw power at his age is incredibly rare, especially for a player who still projects to stick in center field.
On this episode of Bucs On Deck, we break down Tejera’s rapid rise, the underlying numbers that have the Pirates excited, his defensive projection, what comes next in his development and why the early buzz around him is drawing comparisons to Edward Florentino.
