Episode Notes
Rhamondre Stephenson ran for 131 yards and 2 touchdowns on just 7 carries, Drake May added a TD pass, Quinn Ewers and the offense turned the ball over 2x in the red zone, and the Miami Dolphins finished off the 2025 season with a 38-10 beating at the hands of the New England Patriots.
The L is the Dolphins' (7-10) 3rd in their last 4 games, wrapping up their 2nd straight losing season after making the playoffs the previous 2 years. The Pats (14-3) went from worst to 1st in the AFC East to finish 2nd in the AFC behind Denver. They swept the 'Phins this season, with Miami giving up 71 points and 815 yards of offense in the 2 games, and Maye going 33-43 for 421 yards and 3 scores with no turnovers.
Maye finished today's game 14-18 for 191 yards, a touchdown and no int's. The 2nd-year QB/NFL MVP candidate went 19-23 for 230 yards and 2 TD's with no picks in the 1st game at Miami.
Miami Rookie QB Quinn Ewers (16-23, 163 yards, TD, int) completed 8 of his 1st 9 passes, but his incomplete pass on 4th & 1 from the NE 8 yard-line and interception in the end zone killed 2 of Miami's best chances to score. Ewers finished his rookie year 1-2 with 3 TD's and 3 picks after replacing Tua Tagovailoa as the starter 3 games ago.
Playing without star RB De'Von Achane, the Miami offense ran for just 63 yards. Jaylen Wright ran for just 23 yards on 1.8 yards per carry and fumbled the ball 2x, with New England recovering one.
Theo Wease and Greg Dulcich caught 3 passes apiece, and Malik Washington caught Ewers' lone touchdown pass before leaving the game in the 2nd quarter with an injury.
The Dolphins played without team MVP Achane, WR Jaylen Waddle and TE Darren Waller on offense, while S Minkah Fitzpatrick and DE Chop Robinson sat out on defense. LB Jordyn Brooks played through a hamstring injury to lead the team with 9 tackles.
The loss ends an awful season that saw the in-season firing of GM Chris Grier, the benching of QB1 Tagovailoa, the season-ending injury to superstar WR Tyreek Hill, the constant speculation on HC Mike McDaniel's future the Dolphins' 20th season missing the playoffs since Dan Marino and Jimmy Johnson left after the 1999 season.
