Episode Notes
Toast has a whole new background in his studio, and Scoop celebrates a milestone birthday as we kick off this week's show, which is all about the aftermath of Miami making the College Football Playoff. We also have some All-American honors as Malachi Toney rakes in titles across the board, beyond just the Freshman group, and how he could be a Heisman favorite going into next season. And everyone has opinions about what Miami will go shopping for in the portal this upcoming season, especially how the quarterback might look over the next few years.
We also take a look at the status of our two coordinators, as Shannon Dawson and Corey Hetherman's names have come up in a lot of coaching discussions this offseason. And the fallout with Miami being the last team in, and Notre Dame being the first team out, has exploded across the College Football landscape, including Notre Dame AD Pete Bevacqua trying to burn down ND's relationship with the ACC. That includes amazing audio from Big12 Commissioner Brett Yormark burning the Notre Dame AD for the way he handled Miami missing the Playoffs.
Our friend and our NEW MERCH partner AB joins the show to announce the new line of OBB merch available for sale at www.aboutthefans.com including the "A Gap for Life" shirt that helped change Miami's offensive direction going into the last four games of the season. And lifelong Canes fan AB talks about celebrating the moment of Miami getting selected with his 9-year-old son, and what that moment has really meant to true Miami fans who have suffered from the outside for the last 20 years.
And while Notre Dame's national media collapse was initially the story of the week, Michigan said "hold my beer" by firing head coach Sherrone Moore with cause which spun into one of the wildest stories of the year so far. Plus audio from Eric MacLain on the ACC Network saying Miami is going to be a "matchup nightmare" for Texas A&M because they are a team that cannot be bullied. Everyone also has thoughts about Utah Athletics partnering with private equity for the future of their athletic program and how this will be a test case for the entire college football world going forward.
We close out the show with Marcell Reed on RG3's podcast, responding to Robert's "Estonian" wife, asking about what would happen if Miam offered him $4 million, some funny audio of the week from UConn head coach Dan Hurley, and everyone's picks for the Army-Navy game!
