Episode Notes

Ruben Neyens is one of the world’s leading experts in tennis-specific physical development and children’s tennis, as well as a highly regarded educator in these areas.

He works closely with several federations, academies, and clubs around the world, and is currently collaborating with the Finnish Tennis Federation.

For many years, Ruben has been widely known for his creativity and inventiveness when it comes to designing fun yet highly effective physical exercises for children and young players. He has generously shared this work through various social media platforms, inspiring coaches across the globe.

In today’s episode, we discuss the importance of every coach working with a clear and well-defined methodology, how Ruben continuously comes up with new exercises, and what it looks like in practice to work as a consultant for federations, academies, and clubs. We also talk about the challenges clubs face with tightly scheduled training sessions where children arrive and leave to the minute, common mistakes made by physical coaches, which countries are currently leading the way in youth training, and what you as a coach can already focus on today to make an immediate difference for your players.
