Episode Notes

Join KD and Tom as they chat to former Hereford United left back, Alex Jeannin!

Alex talks about how he started out in football, his debut for his hometown club of Troyes and early days in the French Cup playing the likes of Monaco.

Tom and KD move on to Alex’s time in England where he spent the majority of this career beginning at Darlington following a trial with Rotherham. The glamour of football hey!

Alex eventually moves to Exeter City, a time he says he enjoyed immensely. Whilst at Exeter City, Alex is part of the team that took Manchester United to a replay.

Alex talks about this experience and what it was like to play in front of almost 70,000 people in such an iconic setting. The conversation then moves on to Alex moving to the right club, Hereford United!!

Alex talks us through that first season which culminated in Hereford reaching the playoff final and being promoted. Alex talks about scoring against his former club, Exeter, and how vital that win was in ensuring Hereford made the playoffs and got promoted. Then the playoff final itself, the feeling when we won and of course the celebrations!!

Other good nights out were had following games, with Saxtys and a few stories getting a good mention all these years on!

Alex spoke about a lack of game time and that he needed to leave Hereford despite wanting to stay on due to his love for the club, the fans and the city. After a couple of clubs,

Alex eventually retired and we talk about what he has done since. Still in football, Alex is now a scout for Red Star Belgrade for France, Belgium and Holland having previously had roles at PSG and Olympique Lyonnais.

Alex often comes back to Hereford and we hope to see him at a game in the near future! We also mentioned that if he knows a striker looking for a club to send him Hereford’s way!

Thanks to Alex for his time and fantastic stories! Such a nice guy!
